1.Eating Around

Namba is a perfect place to eat and walk around. There are many dining options from the cheap eats to fine restaurants.

Especially Namba is known for takoyaki (a Japanese snack with a wheat flour based batter and octopus), okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), udon (noodle), gyoza (pot stickers), butaman (pork bun), ramen, kushikatsu (deep fried meat or vegetable skewers).

These are fairly inexpensive options that are very popular in Osaka.

You may also opt for such gourmet treats as crabs, puffer fish, yakiniku, etc.

2.Take a Picture with the Glico Signage


Along the Doton canal are Dotonbori area, lit by thousands of neon lights and colorful signboards.

This is one of the most popular areas for tourists to visit.

3.Namba Parks

Namba Parks is a unique entertainment area that combines shopping, dining, movie theater and an amazing urban garden.

You would love this place if you are into the beautiful architecture.

This building beautifully combines the futuristic modern design as well as the abundant nature.

There are various international dining options.

Make sure to visit the rooftop garden, which features around 7,000 plants.

Osaka is known to be the Kitchen of the World.

Along with this traditional shopping street, you can purchase the best of the kitchen utensils in Japan, such as knives, potteries, pans and pots, etc.

Especially the Japanese knives are very popular among the world’s top chefs, so you might want to invest in them.

5.Namba Grand Kagetsu Theater

This theater may be the most popular destination for the Japanese tourists, as it is nationally known as the symbol of Namba or Osaka.

At this theater, established in 1987 as the headquarter of Yoshimoto (Japanese comedy company), you can enjoy various types of comedy shows.

In order to understand the culture of Osaka, you must experience the comedy here.

One challenge might be that they don’t offer English shows here.

6.Get blessing at the Hozenji Yokocho Temple

Built in Edo era, Hozenji temple has been in the heart of people of Namba for long.

Along the narrow alley of Hozenji Yokocho, on one side, there is the temple, while on the other side, there are various traditional shops, restaurants and izakaya.

This is a great area where you can experience the good old Japanese culture, that you can’t not experience elsewhere.

7.Izakaya Hopping


There are many great izakaya (Japanese bars) that are inexpensive in Namba.

It is the ultimate Japanese experience to enjoy a few drinks along with yummy food with friends.

Unfortunately, most of these izakaya don’t have an English menu.

This might be the most popular shopping place for our foreign guests.

You can get anything from the home electronics to food.

This is a perfect place for you to get something for your family and friends back home.

They are usually equipped with staff who can speak various languages.

Kuromon Market is the place to visit for the foodies.

This market has been in the operation at the exact location from 1902.

You will get to see many unique seafood and vegetable produces of Japan.

In the heart of the Comedy Capital, there is an all English stand-up comedy shows club that you can enjoy.

This club has been providing all English comedy shows on Fridays and Saturdays.
